We are an inclusive community offering concert dance instruction in Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Contemporary, Pre-Ballet, Creative, Tumbling, and Parent/Tot dance; supported by a conceptual approach to dance instruction. Student Dress Code and Etiquette – (no dress code for Parent/Tot or Creative Dance)
Students should be timely to class, prepared mentally and physically to participate, and wearing appropriate dress for his/her class. We ask students to raise hands for questions and comments during class. Food, gum, jewelry, street shoes, and beverages besides water are not allowed in the dance studios. Students should not be in the studio without instructor permission. Click here for more information about our dress code.
Communication – Our primary method of communication is email. We post updates and notices on our website, Facebook page and on Instagram.
Weather Cancellations – We are changing our cancellation policy this year. If Jefferson County Schools close for road conditions or inclument weather we will not hold morning classes but we may stay open for afternoon and evening classes. The decision to stay open or cancel classes will be posted no later than 2:00pm the day of on our FB and Instagram pages. Cancellations will be emailed to all classes.
Attendance/Absences – Good attendance is a vital part of any educational process and students with high attendance (and their peers) learn more throughout the year. If your child misses a class, s/he is welcome to attend a make-up class with any other class in the same age range. Please choose your class based on the list of available classes and email Julie@lakewooddance.com which class you plan to attend and when. Thank you!
Parent Portal – You can create a username and password to login and access your account with Lakewood Dance Academy. There is a button on the home page, www.lakewooddance.com, titled “Parent Portal” and also on the registration page titled “Current/Past Student Registration.” You can change payment information, register for or drop classes, view past enrollment, etc.
Tuition Payments – Tuition is due monthly Aug. through May. Payments withdraw on the 5th of each month for credit/debit payments. Cash or check payments are due by the 10th of each month. August and December are pro-rated to half payments.
Performances- Lakewood Dance Academy hosts three formal performances each year and several informal opportunities for our students to showcase their talents.

Winter Demonstrations (informal performance for all LDA classes) December 9th-14th Last 30 minutes of class at Lakewood Dance Academy
Student Ensemble Showcase - March 21st at the DL Parsons Theater
