LDA students are welcome to take a make-up class with any class in the same age range. Please choose a class from our list of active classes, and email info@lakewooddance.com to let us know the class name and date your child is going to take a make-up class. If more than three students sign up to take a make-up at the same time, we may contact you to choose another day. We do not pro-rate for missed classes or closures due to inclement weather.
Students should be timely to class, prepared mentally and physically to participate, and wearing appropriate dress for class. Students are expected to participate fully in class unless they are ill or injured. A student late to class should wait at the door to be invited in by their instructor. Students will speak respectfully in class, encourage peers and lead by example. Food, gum, jewelry, and cell phones are not allowed in the dance studio. Students should not be in a dance studio without instructor permission.
At Lakewood Dance Academy, we offer many performance opportunities for our students to showcase their skills and gain valuable experience. LDA produces three mainstage shows per year and our Ensemble student company performs in several additional events throughout the year. Nutcracker Tea is December 3, 2023 Contemporary Dance Showcase is February 17, 2024 and Spring Recital is June 1-2, 2024.
Students in levels 2 through 5 are encouraged to miss no more than two of each class they're enrolled in per semester. Students who miss four or more of an individual class may be contacted by the director to discuss make-up classes, private lessons, or a change of enrollment that better serves the student.
There is no attendance policy for Level 1 and young children's classes. Attendance plays a large part in a student’s preparedness for class and performance, and good attendance is strongly encouraged.
Tuition is due by the 5th of the month for classes and camps in the coming month. Accounts with a card on file are processed on the 5th of each month. Summer camps, drop-in classes and workshops are one time payments. All tuition for weekly classes is due monthly. August and December are pro-rated to a half month.
Safety is a top priority for our staff, and we use proven methods such as BrainDance to support healthy neuromuscular development. We want your child to feel welcome and safe in this space and encourage open dialogue regarding emotional and physical wellbeing. We ask that students do not attend class when sick or symptomatic. Students may take make-up classes at any time. Parents and guardians will be notified of any injury or illness that occurs in our dance studios.
